How to obtain the dyslexia likelihood.

The requirement criteria to obtain an accurate Dyscreen dyslexia likelihood:

  1. The student must be 8 years 0 months or older

  2. The student should not have received prior specialised literacy support

  3. At least 20 audio recordings were received during the word reading assessment

Dyslexia likelihood can be assessed both using Dyscreen, our online dyslexia screener, or by administering an initial word reading assessment in Dystech.

If you are using Dystech, DDS will be automatically calculated if the student meets the above criteria.

How do we assess the dyslexia likelihood?

Dystech has developed a scientifically proven algorithm that assesses the audio recording of a student reading aloud words that are presented on the screen in front of them. The algorithm then collates and processes the information to predict the likelihood of the student being dyslexic. Our algorithm has been trained using a method called machine learning.

It took us many years and multiple collaborations to develop this reliable technology, and you can visit our website to learn more about it and view our scientific publications.

Tip

Dyslexia is very complex and may require further more extensive analysis by an accredited professional in your area to reach a definitive conclusion. A moderate or high likelihood score should lead you to seek that advice.
